- Logs come from the region of Karelia that borders Russia and Finland and is often referred to as Karelian Birch Burl.
- Logs are very small and are therefore peeled which gives a repeatable pattern.
- Very rarely a log is big enough to slice and this is called " Long Grain" veneer.
- Mostly used for highly decorative furniture and very rarely for panelling.
- Historically the Tsars furniture " The Imperial Furniture" was made in Karelian Birch Burl
